How to educate about mental
mental illnesses in order to achieve
a better understanding for those
affected?
More and more people suffer from depression themselves or know
people in their circle who are affected. Nevertheless, authentic
experiences are rarely shared.
As a result, those affected still encounter stigmas and a lack of
understanding.
The posters I created visualize that the disease acts subliminally
and often invisibly to outsiders, but can affect anyone. Yet the psychological
impact on individuals is immense.
The words of people suffering from depression provide a deep
insight into their daily lives with the disease. For those affected,
there is often more behind answers to simple questions like, ‚How
are you doing?‘ The closer you look, the more you find out.

Report Excerpts
»Everything seems normal on the outside, but inside I'm a wreck and on the verge of
breaking down.«
»To better understand what a depression feels like:
like a lead-heavy suit. But that's just one small aspect. Depression is a state of bottomless
hopelessness.«
»All I can do is lie there trembling and giving out
strangled
screams
until I
can't breathe.«
